Students can choose from various tracks tailored to their individual needs and goals, allowing them to construct the most beneficial program for their personal growth and development. By providing a customized educational experience for each student at Academics West, we ensure that they acquire the necessary skills to navigate their post-secondary lives, regardless of whether they choose to attend college or pursue a different path toward future success.
A different approach
Unlike traditional education models, which often lack the necessary focus on advanced executive functioning, interpersonal, and leadership skills that are crucial for young people to become independent, resilient, and self-valuing adults, Academics West takes an innovative approach that prepares students for the ever-changing world they will face as they move forward in life.
Academics West LLC was founded in 2011 by Dr. Jeffrey Kassinove and Dr. Evan Flamenbaum, both mental health professionals and educators. Initially, they focused on helping students who struggled with social-emotional challenges to fit in and succeed in a typical educational setting.
However, over time, they realized that the standard general or special education setting was only sometimes effective, even with extensive support. This realization led to the development of Academics West and the Clinically Informed Academics® model, which aims to integrate clinical and educational skill development to provide a more holistic and effective approach to supporting students.
A strong history of success
The vision statement of Academics West became the foundation of their collective work, which is now the ideal that all staff embraces when working with students at Academics West. By emphasizing the importance of executive functioning in both learning and therapy, the Clinically Informed Academics® model emerged from the missing piece of the support puzzle.
The outcomes we have observed for over a decade using this methodology have been truly remarkable. Students who make gains in therapy and academic success undergo a transformation that replaces their emotional struggles with newfound hope and motivation, becoming skilled learners capable of handling life’s challenges.
Academics West LLC takes pride in the fact that 100% of our graduating students have been accepted into college since our inception, which is a testament to the effectiveness of our unique model. Many students who initially felt that college was an unattainable goal have realized their potential through our program.
